Absecon boasts a multitude of recreational facilities and activities for residents and visitors alike. Patrons will find paths for biking and walking, playgrounds, a boat ramp, and a myriad of athletic fields. Absecon is also home to the one and only South Jersey Field of Dreams, located within the Dr. Jonathan Pitney Recreation Park.

Throughout the year we host an abundance of community events like our Concerts in the Park series held in Heritage Park.

To help honor our proud patriotic heritage, the city offers a Veteran’s Park and a 9/11 Memorial. A steel beam from the World Trade Center is a focal part of the memorial located in Heritage Park.

Absecon Youth Sports Coaching Program: Registration & Approval

Follow these steps to complete your coaching registration and receive your required ID badge. All steps must be completed before the start of your sports season.

All Coaches Must Comply with City Requirements

Absecon Ordinance 04-2025 requires all youth sports coaches to complete a background check. New coaches must also complete fingerprinting. ID badges must be worn at all times while on the field of play, no exceptions. Please review the ordinance (linked below) before you begin.

Step 1: Prepare Your Coaching Application Package

All new and renewal applicants must submit the following:

  1. Completed Coaching Registration Form. Download and complete the form (linked below). The form asks whether you are a new or renewing applicant.
  2. Copy of your valid driver’s license.
  3. Digital headshot photo for your badge. Use a plain background, face forward, and no hats or sunglasses.

Step 2: Fingerprinting (New Applicants Only)

New applicants must complete fingerprinting before submitting their application package.

Schedule Your Appointment

  1. Visit the IdentoGo website (linked below).
  2. Select “Schedule or Manage Appointment.”
  3. Enter the Contributor’s Case Number: A15001
  4. Enter the Service Code, if prompted: 2F1J3Y
  5. Choose your preferred date and location.
  6. Pay the fingerprinting fee online. Payment is required to complete scheduling.
  7. Confirm your appointment details.

Attend Your Appointment

  1. Arrive on your scheduled date and time.
  2. Bring a valid photo ID.
  3. Complete fingerprinting as directed by IdentoGo staff.

Step 3: Renewal Applicants

Coaching certifications must be renewed every 3 years. Renewal applicants do not need to repeat fingerprinting. When completing the Coaching Registration Form, select “renewal.” An updated background check will be conducted by the Absecon Police Department as part of your renewal review.

Step 4: Submit Your Application Package

Submit your completed coaching package to Mary Fetske in Police Records.

Step 5: Await Badge Notification

Once your package is received:

  1. Your Coaching Registration Form and background check will be reviewed.
  2. Your badge will be created upon approval.
  3. Recreation Director Pete Higbee will notify you when your badge is ready to be collected.

Do not begin coaching until you have received your approved ID badge.
