This past weekend, the Absecon Police Department, along with several other police departments, military, and first responders from Atlantic County participated in the 12th annual Shop with a Cop and Holidays with Heroes Event. We are pleased to be a part of such a great event to bring our law enforcement and community together, and most importantly, to create a memorable experience for the children of our City. 

This is a one-day event where our officers spend the day with the children; beginning with breakfast and special events in the morning, then a police escort/parade into the Walmart, followed by meeting Santa, and finally a free of charge holiday shopping spree. 

None of this would be possible without donations and contributions from the following:

Come out and enjoy the Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 6, 2022, at 6:00 PM. Many of our local businesses will be offering special deals for that day only. Check the slides below for more information. We look forward to seeing all our friends and neighbors at the event.

The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs has implemented a Winter Termination Program to prevent service discontinuation for eligible residential customers receiving residential electric, sewer, and water from a local authority, municipal utility, or rural electric cooperative from November 15th through March 15th. Please see the attached letter from the State for more information.

After monitoring the Pet Waste Station at Heritage Park for the last year, two new stations have been installed at Pitney Park.  One is located by the baseball wagonwheel and one near the Field of Dreams.  Please enjoy the convenience of the Pet Waste Stations and remember to dispose of pet waste in a responsible manner to Keep Absecon Clean !!

Absecon's Fall Curbside Leaf Collection begins November 7th and runs through December 30th.  Place loose leaves only, no branches or other debris please.

Absecon's Trick-or-Treat will take place on October 31st from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. 

Chief Laughlin would like to remind everyone that there will be increased foot traffic, as parents and children will be out visiting our neighborhoods.  Please reduce speeds in all residential areas, especially during this time period.

Parents need to remember to inspect all candy and goodies before anyone consumes their treats.

Due to Safety concerns surrounding Trick-or-Treat, Morton Avenue between Upland Avenue and Crestview Avenue will be closed starting at 5:45 pm and will re-open at approximately 8:00 pm or when the streets are clear of pedestrian traffic.  There will be no traffic allowed to enter or exit the closed area during those hours.

The Pitney Park Sports Comlex Area off Morton Avenue will be available for parking during the event.

We recognize that this may be an inconvenience for homeowners, but hope you understand that Chief Laughlin has made this decision with the safety of the families and children participating in the Trick-or-Treat event in mind.  

If you have family or friends planning to visit during this time, please make sure to communicate this information.
