The following information only applies to couples being married in New Jersey, and reside in Absecon. Applications are done at the City Clerk’s Office by appointment only between the hours of 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday-Friday. There is a mandatory 72 hour waiting period before a license can be issued. Call 609-641-0663 ext. 100 to schedule your appointment.

Items required for both applicants at the time of application:

  • Proof of Residency. (ex: Driver’s License, Lease, Tax Return)
  • $28.00 CASH, CHECK, OR MONEY ORDER
  • One Witness over the age of 18 with photo I.D.

Helpful, but not required documents:

  • Birth Certificate with parents’ information
  • If married before, Death Certificate, Annulment or Divorce papers.

Applicants must know their parents birthplaces, mother’s maiden names and the wedding information including information of person officiating.
