Body Worn Cameras
In accordance with guidelines set forth by the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, The Absecon Police Department has equipped it's sworn personnel with body worn cameras (BWC) that, with very limited exceptions, will record all interactions with the public using video and audio. Below are two examples of how the cameras may be worn by uniformed and plain clothes officers, so that it will be easier for members of the public to be more aware that a recording device may be in use. Body worn cameras have been in service with the Absecon Police Department since 2017.

9/11 Memorial
Located at 440 Mill Road, next to Heritage Park.
The Absecon 9/11 Memorial located in Heritage Park, along Mill Road, showcases a 16-foot beam from the 39th floor of the South Tower of the former World Trade Center. This is the largest artifact from the former World Trade Center in all of South Jersey and Absecon is honored to have received this beam. Absecon’s 9/11 Memorial Founders Committee worked diligently designing and constructing the Memorial with donated time and materials. The Memorial was completed and dedicated in a ceremony held on September 11, 2016.
The 9/11 Memorial in Absecon is listed on the State Registry. Directional signs have been placed so that area residents and tourists can locate the Memorial.
A program is held each year to remain committed to honor the people who were lost on September 11, 2001, including the first responders who paid the ultimate sacrifice and those who continue to face challenges from that day.

Bureau of Fire Prevention
The Bureau of Fire Prevention is responsible for a multitude of inspections and services to the public, including the inspection of every business, warehouse, institution, and school facility on an annual basis to ensure they are not in violation of the Uniform Fire Code of the State of New Jersey. Fire Marshals also inspect new businesses during the Occupancy for Use application process in conjunction with the Zoning Officer. Additionally, in the month of October, Fire Marshals are tasked with promoting fire safety by making visits to the public elementary schools as well as the majority of the preschool and daycare facilities in the township. The Bureau of Fire Prevention is also responsible for handling all complaints that appear to violate the Uniform Fire Code for the State of New Jersey. The Bureau also performs Origin and Cause investigations for all fires within the city.
