DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE BUYING A NEW PROPERTY! |
Before purchasing a property, it’s good to do your homework! Instead of being surprised when you receive an Added Assessment bill for work performed by the prior owner, with or without the proper construction permits, have your Real Estate Agent, Title Company, your Attorney or even yourself request a “Municipal Tax Search” from the Absecon Tax Collector. The cost is $10.00 and it will be provided within a timely manner. This search will provide an official listing of any unpaid taxes, unpaid sewer, open building permits, and any potential Added or Omitted Assessments for this property. This will make you aware of any pending assessed value increases due to an improvement performed by the prior owner. |
